Simms Creek Stewardship Society

Mission/ Purpose: To work with local residents and businesses, other non-profit organizations and all levels of government to maintain and restore the existing ecological integrity of Simms Creek, its tributaries and associated wetlands.

The Simms Creek watershed of about 1600 hectares contains mature forest, regenerating forest, cleared and urban areas and requires a wide mix of stewardship activities.

The Simms Creek Stewardship Society was formed as a non-profit Society in 2003 and since then has been active in:
  • projects to create and or enhance water storage
  • stream bed habitat restoration
  • stream bank restoration
  • adult and juvenile fish counting
  • invasive plant removal
  • monitoring water quality
  • removing garbage from watershed areas
